Hey my friends, how are you faring? Well, I would hope. I took last week off from blogging because it was finals week for me and was a hot wreck. Anyway, I’ll be posting character sketches on Mondays and on Fridays I’ll be posting more chapters of When We Met. Today we have one of my favorite characters, Aero. Please enjoy and let me know what you think.
He’s the kid you only see every once in a while in class. But when you do, he’s always accompanied by his good grades and a skateboard. He’s the kid you worry about but wouldn’t ever know how to approach him. He’s the kid with a new bruise on his face each week and a new rumor pinned to his back every day. He’s the kid you watch from afar and wonder about.
He wears worn jeans and classical art t-shirts. His hair is thick and curly and never brushed. His jawline is sharp and his green eyes soft. His eyes are the color of spring nights that bloom into summer evenings. His manner that of a monster scared to hurt something.
Don’t let him know he scares you. Don’t let him know you’ve heard awful stories about him in the halls. He never shows up at school because he doesn’t want anyone to know. He doesn’t want anyone to see. He can’t have anyone see the anger that courses through his veins and laces every thought. He didn’t put the anger there. But he’s working hard to remove it. And you spreading rumors does not help.
He’s a lilting line of poetry one moments. But then the next he’s all fury and anger. An earthquake leaving nothing but devastation and destruction. He changes so quickly you can hardly blink, otherwise, you might miss it. He Jekyll then he’s Hyde, all in one breath. But he doesn’t even realize it.When he’s angry, he tears ting apart, destroys everything within sight. But then, it’s like he wakes up. He wakes up and his face falls and his shoulders drop and he tries to understand. Understand why he would do such a thing. He works so hard to fix it. To solve the problem he created. And most times he can patch things up. But sometimes, he can’t. And those are the times that break him the most.
It’s not his fault. He can’t help it. If he could choose, he would take the anger out of him and try to fix everything instead of break it. It was that project and that lab and that doctor. They took away his right to emotions and left him with a half filled cup of a quick temper. He’s so careful now because he has to. He watches every word, movement and thought. No one should have to be careful. No one should have to be afraid to live.
