“manufestus”- a repurposed poem

Jude 1:12 “These are hidden reefs at your love feast, as they feast with you without fear.”

Shiver and Shake for your heart has no place

Another absence, another guilty abscess

Snakes at the love-feast that you refuse to face

 Dancing juice and haunting tunes

You didn’t mean to stay past June

Shiver, Shake, your heart has no place.

Call your mother, call your home

Your skeleton apologies lack all bone

You are the snake at the love-feast that you refuse to face.

Can she hear the hiss, hear the lie?

When did you begin to cry?

Shiver, Shake, your heart has no place.

An empty plate at a meal of brotherly love

A traitor in the midst of unity’s cove

You are the snake at the love-feast that you refuse to face.

Light a candle to blow out the dark

Maybe you can dream of somewhere less stark

Shiver and Shake for your heart has no place

Snakes at the love feast that you refuse to face
